The role of sketching in my art practice…
I define sketching as the work that I do to explore and record before, or isolated from, finished artworks. My sketching can be in pencil, charcoal, pastel, ink or Brusho and is most likely to be a mix of all of these with some acrylics thrown in for good measure. It is exploratory and can be in a sketchbook, on gessoed paper or on board. I teach a variety of workshops to help artists and amateurs alike to loosen up their drawing style and find more expressive and intuitive ways to observe and record the world around them. See my Artful Mind mini site to book or contact me to organise a workshop for you, your friends or a group.
