I mix a range of waterbased mediums in my work to create my ‘paintings’ - acrylic, ink and drawing media such as Stabilo Woody’s, Inktense Pencils, Neo Colour II, water soluble oil pastels and water soluble graphite. Layering these mediums allows me to create nuances in layers of colour and mark making - I can scribe and outline over washes and broad brushstrokes, seeing what emerges as I work on the surface. I know what form or place I want to evoke but the materials determine how they evolve.
